The short version: your photos stay on your device, full stop. Here's the complete version.
Your photos never leave your device
When you hand the bear a photo, it's compressed and stored in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) — on iOS, that's the app's own local storage. Nothing is uploaded to a server. We can't see it, host it, or lose it in a breach, because we never receive it in the first place. Deleting the app or clearing site data deletes the photos with it.
The waitlist form
If you leave an email on the website to hear about future updates, it's stored so we can email you — nothing else. It's kept in a database with a policy that only allows new emails to be added, never read back out through the website, and no email is ever sold or shared with anyone outside this project.
Notifications, haptics, sound
The iOS app schedules local notifications on your device for the moment a photo is forgotten, computed entirely from timestamps already on your device — this never touches a server. Haptic feedback (the little buzzes when you clean a photo) and sound are also entirely on-device.
No accounts, no tracking, no analytics
Denwell doesn't ask you to sign in. There's no advertising SDK, no third-party analytics, and no fingerprinting. Any count the app or website shows you (how many photos, how many forgotten) is computed from your own local data or a real database count — never invented, never used to profile you.
Third parties involved in running this
The website and its waitlist are hosted on Microsoft Azure and a Postgres database (Supabase). Neither has access to your photos, which never leave your device. The iOS app is distributed through Apple's App Store / TestFlight, which is subject to Apple's own privacy terms for app distribution.
Children
Denwell isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this page
If what Denwell stores changes, this page changes with it — honestly, not quietly. There's no dated changelog yet because there's nothing to log; this is the first version.
